WinACC is working to bring together major stakeholders from Winchester (including Winchester FoE) in an effort to meet the challenge of Climate Change.

The LTP are the thoughts of Hampshire County Council on how transport will be addressed in the period until 2025. But we are sad to see that there is no comment on how transport will reduce its carbon emissions in this time. Car drivers feel they are taxed heavily but studies show that road transport is effectively subsidised by externalisation of the costs of the road system.

Winchester does not need a large development like Barton Farm. We can satisfy our housing demands by utilising space available in town to build sustainable houses where the inhabitants have most of their needs within walking distance.

Instead of Local Plans, Councils are now required to produce a Local Development Framework (LDF), which is constrained by and supposed to influence the wider Regional Spatial Strategy. Winchester City Council, as part of its ‘Live for the Future’ strategy has recently been in consultation on the LDF.
